Charges have been filed in connection with two separate armed robberies
in Michigan City.
Alicia Gierke, 26, and Rickiesha Person, 18, were arrested last week on a warrant
charging them with robbery and criminal confinement for their roles in the October 26 crime
that originated at GoLo gas station at 1133 E. Michigan Blvd.
Both charges are Class B felonies with each offense carrying a potential
6 to 20 year sentence.
Gierke is also charged with Class B felony robbery and Class D felony criminal
gang activity stemming from the October 25 hold up of a pizza delivery man.
According to Michigan City Police, a 54 year old man pumping gas was approached
by a man and woman asking for a ride.
The victim turned down the request but was then forced to give them a ride
after one of the suspects produced a gun.
The suspects climbed into the victim's car and were driving until the woman
reached over and put the vehicle into park, causing the vehicle to stop.
Over $300 was removed from the victim's pocket and the two suspects
fled on foot, said police.
According to police, a 17 year old male has also been charged in connection
with the incident.
Police said a man working for Domino's the previous day pulled up to a residence
in the 600 block of N. Ashland Ave. to deliver three pizzas and a two liter bottle of
He walked to the door but the resident insisted he never placed an order.
Police said the deliveryman walked back to his vehicle and placed the foot
on the driver's seat.
He was approached by two suspects wearing ski masks and at gunpoint one of the
robbers told the victim to ''give me the pizzas and your money,'' according to police.
He immediately handed over the food and soft drink along with $35 and the
suspects fled in a southerly direction.
