La Porte County Police on Tuesday were trying to determine who robbed
a Michigan City area gas station/convenience store.
A tracking dog was used shortly after the robbery and picked up a scent
but no suspects were located, according to police.
At 8:45 p.m. Monday, officers responded to Next Door Foods at 10201
N. U-S 12 just west of the Michigan line.
A female teller told police two males wearing dark ski masks
ordered her to give them money from the register.
No weapon was displayed.
However, one of the robbers kept a hand in the front pocket of his hooded
sweatshirt to at least make it seem as if he had a gun, police said.
The men fled with $85 westbound on foot.
The teller told officers she had just made a drop so all she had left was
$85 all in $5 and $1 denominations, police said.
La Porte County Sheriff's deputy Sgt. Harlan Williams showed up with
a K-9 dog, which led officers into the nearby Shady Oak Trailer Park.
A perimeter was also set up around the mobile home community, but no
suspects were located.
Both men were described as six foot tall, wearing blue jeans and white
tennis shoes.
The teller told investigators she could not make out their due to their
faces being covered by ski masks, police said.
