A move has been made to try and protect the local share of casino dollars.

Today....the county commissioners hired a lobbyist.

She will be active in the state house......fighting legislation that could result

in a loss of casino money for La Porte County government and Michigan City.

County attorney Shaw Friedman says local gaming revenue is protected from any losses

from increased competition but there are proposals right now to remove those protections.

The lobbyist will be paid 95 hundred dollars for her work in the legislature the next

six weeks.
