There are new developments in the longstanding effort to further develop

Kingsbury Industrial Park.

Steps have been taken to connect two existing major rail lines at the park.

The county commissioners voted to exercise eminent domain to obtain the easement

for laying the tracks to make that connection.

La Porte County attorney Shaw Friedman says connecting the lines will allow the entire

park to be served by rail....making it very attractive for investors....

Friedman says intermodal facility is no longer being proposed due to changes in the economy

over the years.

Instead....the vision is manufacturing.

He says eminent domain was a last resort after ongoing negotiations with the property owner

failed to reach a deal.
