$125,000 is being sought to keep afloat the city owned golf courses in Michigan City.

Officials say the very wet spring keeping players away has created the need for extra

funding from city coffers.

Local resident Rob Worek says the golf courses being like playgrounds for teens and adults

are no different that the playgrounds for children the city has invested in.

He also said the golf courses are economic development tool and a place where

numerous fund raisers are held for various organizations.

A vote on the funding request is expected at the next city council meeting on the 20th of this month.
