A local official could be on borrowed time in terms of his public service.

LaPorte County Councilman John Sullivan pleaded guilty yesterday to a felony

charge.

He admitted going inside the home of a Wanatah woman without her permission.

Judge Michael Bergerson chose not to act on the guilty plea.

He wants to give the victim a chance to speak to the terms of the plea before

deciding whether to accept it.

The plea would allow Sullivan to avoid jail time.

But....he would serve probation and possibly undergo mental health treatment.

He would also have to step down from the county council because of a felony

conviction.

Others have alleged Sullivan had gone inside their homes without permission for

years.....prior to being caught.
