He's spent a lifetime raising cattle here in LaPorte County.
But...now....he's getting ready to see his dream of being a real cowboy
come true.
66 year old Les Craft is going to Montana.
Most of his black angus cattle is already in Big Sky country.
Craft will be auctioning off his property just west of LaPorte soon....
Then....make the move after retiring from his other full time job....at
Farm Bureau Insurance....
Craft has gone to Montana before to buy prime cattle to bring back here......to raise.
He also sells breeding stock to customers in Montana.
He says there's not quite like the way of life out there.....along with the wide open
Craft helped his father raise cattle as a child......in Scipio Township...then
bought his own spread near Pinola over 30 years ago.
About 80 of his 100 head of cattle are already grazing the over 2,000 acres he bought
to start his new life in Montana.
