A candidate for mayor of LaPorte would like fix more of the city's sidewalks.
Tim Stabosz is proposing the city fix all of the sidewalks by financing the work
over a 30 year period.
Right now....the city has a program where property owners who volunteer
pay half of the cost.
But....Stabosz says many property owners can't afford to cost share....so those sidewalks
go unrepaired.
Stabosz says his vision is about place making....to draw more new residents and
investment.
Stabosz is currently a member of the city council.
He's running against Tom Dermody for the republican nomination in the May primary.
