The city of LaPorte is moving ahead with a storm water project.

Last night...the city council agreed to a purchase of 25 acres of farmland

along Boyd Boulevard....south of Lincolnway.

That land will become an extra holding area for storm water from the Thomas Rose Industrial Park.

Waste Water Department superintendent Jerry Jackson says storm water in the new basin will percolate into the ground.....for cleansing....instead of being sent to the treatment plant.

And it takes storm water from the industrial park away from an existing wells.......

Jackson says the extra basin also gives industries in that area the ability to expand

on their existing properties....
