Indiana has set a record for exports.
Last year....the state shattered its previous record for goods handled at
ports on Lake Michigan and the Ohio River.
More shipments of coal and grain are the biggest reasons.
Chris Hurt is agricultural economist at Purdue.
He feels very strong yields for corn and soybeans the past
couple years is a factor in the increase of exports from the state....
Officials say the Port of Indiana at Burns Harbor was one of two ports
recently expanded.....to handle more volume.
