Reducing the number of townships in Indiana could be considered again

by the state legislature.

Last year.....there was a proposal mandating townships with less than

15 hundred people...merge with a neighboring township.

But...the measure after considerable discussion did not receive a vote.

Indiana Farm Bureau is opposed to such an idea.

Katrina Hall....a spokesperson for the group...said she hasn't seen any merger

proposals yet....but it's still early in the session....

Hall says the proposal last year would have reduced the number of townships

in the state by nearly 30 percent.
