arrest in gas station armed robbery

On 11/26/18, at approximately 8:30am, members of MCPD Patrol Shift 1 were dispatched to the Murphy USA gas station in reference to a robbery that had just occurred minutes earlier. The suspect was described as being a w/m wearing a black hooded coat and a mask.

Officer Steve Forker was the first to arrive on scene and began the investigation. He was soon joined by Cpl. Tim Baker and Sgt. Anthony McClintock from the MCPD Investigative Division. Based on information gathered from the scene, Timothy J. Ericksen was determined to be a strong person of interest in the case. It was also noted that Timothy currently had an active LaPorte County arrest warrant for Probation Violation stemming from a prior burglary conviction in Superior Court #1.

While the Patrol Division and Investigative Division continued the investigation, members of the F.A.S.T. Team and LaPorte County Drug Task Force began the search for Mr. Ericksen. On 11/27/18, Mr. Ericksen was located in Porter, Indiana and was taken into custody for the Probation Violation warrant. He was transported to the Michigan City Police Department and interviewed.

Still on 11/27/18, Timothy Ericksen was arrested on probable cause for Robbery as a Level 5 Felony. Cpl. Tim Baker is the Lead Detective in this matter and will be presenting the case to the Honorable Superior Court #1 Judge, Michael Bergerson during a forthcoming probable cause hearing.
