A local official is concerned about the money being spent to improve the LaPorte County

So far...the county council has earmarked 375 thousand dollars.

Electrical upgrades are nearly finished.

Soon....water and sewer lines will start being run to the fairgrounds.

LaPorte County Councilman Jeff Santana says a new management group was

put in charge of the property.....because of the financial struggles of the former

group that cost the county money.

Now...he's afraid the county is becoming a piggy bank again....

Council president Randy Novak says a lot of money was saved on the electrical work

done so far....

And other cost cutting is being looked at for the next round of improvements....

He also says the fairgrounds is owned by the county......and getting it in great condition

Is more of an investment....

The new management group is also looking to replace some of the buildings with new

The hope is to have everything done by 2020....for the 175th anniversary of the fair.....the oldest

In the state.
